Dr. Zakir Naik under Criticism and Media Trial

Clean chit to Zakir Naik, Maharashtra SID

In a major relief for Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik and his millions of followers the Maharashtra State Intelligence Department (SID) has given a clean chit to the televangelist  and has decided not to arrest him on his arrival at Mumbai.
The SID  found no reason to register a case against the Islamic preacher for now. Zakir Naik, who cancelled his plan to return to India on Monday, has been given clean chit by SID, that is handling the investigation of the Zakir Naik case ordered by the Maharashtra government. The SID sources added that Zakir Naik will not and cannot be arrested on his return to India based on the evidence against him.
The SID, after watching and listening hundreds of YouTube videos and speeches given by the controversial preacher Zakir Naik in and out of India, reached to the conclusion that no case can be made out against him for now, except the charge of hurting religious sentiments. The SID also investigated the evidences collected from the other intelligence teams in various states and found no direct or indirect link between Zakir Naik and terrorists.
“There is no case to be made out against the English-speaking preacher, except maybe the possible charge of hurting religious sentiments, but even that cannot be established from his speeches. We are tracking his movements and only if he speaks out of turn, can we ‘pin’ him down on a charge. For now, we are closely monitoring him,” a senior police official was quoted as saying by the The Hindu.
The  report also said that the SID officers found no strong evidence to link Zakir Naik to terror-related activities. The officials also said that Naik’s past controversial statements Taliban, Osama bin Laden and ISIS do not result in any direct or indirect charges against him. Zakir Naik’s speeches are believed to have inspired some of the Bangladeshi militants, who killed 22 people, mostly foreigners, at an upscale restaurant in Dhaka on July 1.

Dr.Zakir Naik is not liked by Hindu extremist groups who consider him as a threat to their faith, quoting Hindu holy scriptures, converting Hindus openly with the consent of people.  Many traditional Muslim Mullah also dislike him as he is threat to their restricted traditional percepts. The Christians clergy becomes speechless in front of him when he quotes Bible to disprove their arguments. However he is worldwide popular liked by millions due to his logical modern approach.

"O you who believe, if a wicked person brings any news to you, you shall first investigate, lest you commit injustice towards some people, out of ignorance, then become sorry and remorseful for what you have done."(Quran;49:6)

Here’s full statement by Dr.Zakir Naik:

According to me, the media is the most important weapon in the world. It can convert a hero into villain or even a villain into a hero. I'm shocked at the media trial on me regarding the recent terrorist attack that took place in Dhaka Bangladesh on 1st July 2016. Most of the clips shown on the television of myself are either out of context, half statements or doctored. So are my statements in the print media.

I would have loved to give interviews whether for television channels or for the print media, but I fear that most of them will not publish it unedited or without twisting it. I came to this conclusion after I had given a few interviews, most of which were unfortunately mutilated and mis-utilised to serve the vested agenda of the channel or the newspaper.

If time permits, God willing, in the next few days I will give replies to some of the major allegations on video and give it to the media as well as put it up on social media as well as other public platforms so that the original answers are also available if the media misutilises it.

So far not a single official Indian government agency has contacted me for any clarification regarding this issue. It would be my pleasure to cooperate with any official Indian government investigation agency for any information they might require from me.

In conclusion, I repeat what I have always maintained - I DO NOT SUPPORT TERRORISM OR VIOLENCE in any form whatsoever. I have never supported any terrorist organisations and have mentioned this over and over again in thousands of my public talks worldwide. I STRONGLY CONDEMN anyone taking my statements out of context and using it for VIOLENCE OF ANY FORM."
Yours sincerely,
Dr Zakir Naik

Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has sought support from the Muslim community against what he called was a “media trial” over allegedly provocative statements promoting militant views that have triggered calls for his arrest.

Introducing a new Twitter handle -- @drzakirofficial – the Mumbai-based preacher also appealed to people around the world to “eliminate terrorism from our midst”.

Naik has come under the scanner of the Indian government after reports emerged that two among a group of terrorists who killed 20 people in a posh Dhaka café last week were allegedly inspired by his speeches.

“I, Dr Zakir Naik, Call upon all my Muslim Brothers & Sisters to Support me against the “Media Trials” and Let Justice Prevail (sic),” Naik tweeted.

Naik, 51, founder of the Mumbai-based Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), also introduced his new Twitter handle on his Facebook page. Within an hour of Naik’s thousands of likes. He is also the founder of Peace TV Bangla and Peace TV Urdu.

Why Dr.Zakir Naik is Criticised & by Whom?

Dr.Zakir Naik is not liked by:
1) Hindu extremist groups who consider him as a threat to their faith, converting Hindus openly with consent of people.

2) Extremist politicians and their supporters who are criticised by Dr.Zakir Naik for atrocities committed against Muslims. [killing of Muslims in Gujarat (Narindra Modi was CM), demolition of Babri Masjid and instigating communal riots].

3) Many traditional Muslim Mullah also dislike him as he is threat to their restricted traditional percepts.

4) The Christians clergy becomes speechless in front of him when he quotes Bible to disprove their arguments.
His critics have open choice to confront him publicly in open debates to defeat him with arguments, but any one who tried was humiliated with strong logical arguments by Zakir. In desperation they resort to his media trial and character assassination at social media.

He is worldwide popular, liked by millions due to his logical modern approach. Why people like him despite not being 100% in agreement with him? Here are some reasons:

1) He gives references from Holy Texts to support his arguments, any one can check back and draw conclusions, even if one does not agree with his  interpretation.

2) He does not give pessimistic, docile, submissive percepts. He is realistic which may pinch those opposed to Islam. If Muslim lands are being occupied, they are under oppression like Palestine,  Afghanistan,  Kashmir etc, should they keep on getting killed by occupation forces or resist? Even if one is not religious what does the commonsense says?

4) His approach/ views on many subjects is different to the traditional [Muqalideen, blind followers of 4 Sunni Imams]. For example:
a) Women Covering Face: Dr.Zakir Naik proves from Quran and Hadith that Muslim women need not to cover her face, while traditionalists views are opposite.

b) Traditional Muslim Ulema consider Western dress as Haram or Makrooh but Dr.Zakir Naik is dressed up in Western Suit, necktie and speaks in English.

c) According too Dr. Zakir, Apostasy, is not punishable with death under normal circumstances, while traditionalists think it is punishable with death. The Terrorist Takfiri use this  traditional view to kill innocent Muslims.

d) According too Dr. Zakir, Muslims can touch Quran even without ablution (Wadhu) while traditional Muslim scholars think it is forbidden. Hence deprive Muslims to frequently approach/read Quran. Dr. Zakir, has made Quran as household frequently approachable Holy Book not to be kept away wrapped up in almirah.

e) Dr. Zakir, thinks that 911 was inside job, this  view is  shared by many Americans and there are websites. So its not a crime, to make him target to hate.
Dr.Zakir criticises George Bush and Tony Blair for deceit to attack Iraq and Muslim lands, the fact proved now and regretted by Blair. Whole Zionist lobby and mafia is after him.
One may agree or disagree with Dr.Zakir Naik, he is just a human being, a scholar not a prophet. But accusing him to support terrorism to  settle  the score is unfair especially those who are themselves allegedly involved in mass killings. The oppressor rulers fear the teachings of Quran which are against oppression and exploitation, demand justice, equality and fairness, hence any one preaching such human values is bitterly opposed. Initially during early two centuries the Islamic  thought was progressive and dynamic, but after second century of Hijrah 8/9th Century C.E it became stagnant after establishment of four school of jurisprudence. Dr,Muhammad Iqbal emphasised "The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam" but Muslim societies under the clutches of traditional clergy made little progress. People like Dr.Zakir Naik are natural product of such intellectual stagnation. The traditional Islamic institutions like Deoband or Al-Azhar failed to produce any modern scholar of repute with exception of one or two. The Takfiri Doctrine of Terror is  not brainchild of Dr.Zakir Naik.

Takfiri Taliban involved in terrorism and suicide bombing in Pakistan and Afghanistan, they are followers of Deoband school, should we close Deoband on terror charges?
No, Deoband is doing good job, it has renounced Terrorism by issuinng a Fatwa. If some people are misguided then Deoband cannot be blamed for their misdeeds. Similarly if some facebook fans of Dr.Zakir Naik indulge in terrorism,  how can he be blamed without any direct involvement or evidence? Its absurd.

Its time for Muslims to rise up to meet the challenges of modern era by producing scholars of calibe to satisfy the intellectually aware youth. Suppression, state terrorism will not work. Violence breeds more violence.

Believers, be steadfast in the cause of God and bear witness with justice. Do not let your enmity for others turn you away from justice. Deal justly; that is nearer to being God-fearing. Fear God. God is aware of all that you do. (Quran;5:8)

It is a compilation of lectures delivered by Muhammad Iqbal on Islamic philosophy; it was published in 1930. These lectures were delivered by Iqbal in Madras, Hyderabad, and Aligarh. The last chapter, "Is Religion Possible", was added to the book from the 1934 Oxford Edition onwards. In Reconstruction, Iqbal called for a re-examination of the intellectual foundations of Islamic philosophy. The book is a major work of modern Islamic thought. It was a major influence on Iranian sociologist Ali Shariati and other contemporary Muslim reformers, including Tariq Ramadan. Keep reading >>>>

A historic moment in the Arab world

لحظة تاريخية في العالم العربي
As a democratic revolution led by tech-empowered young people sweeps the Arab world, Wadah Khanfar, Al Jazeera's director-general, shares a profoundly optimistic view of what's happening in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and beyond. In the first talk posted online from the TED 2011 conference in California, Khanfar describes the powerful moment when people realised they could step out of their homes and ask for change. This talk was given on March 1, 2011 in Long Beach, California. TED 2011 is taking place between March 1 and Mar…

Our Captured, Wounded Hearts: Arundhati Roy On Balakot, Kashmir And India

With his reckless “pre-emptive” airstrike on Balakot in Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inadvertently undone what previous Indian governments almost miraculously, succeeded in doing for decades. Since 1947 the Indian Government has bristled at any suggestion that the conflict in Kashmir could be resolved by international arbitration, insisting that it is an “internal matter.” By goading Pakistan into a counter-strike, and so making India and Pakistan the only two nuclear powers in history to have bombed each other, Modi has internationalised the Kashmir dispute. He has demonstrated to the world that Kashmir is potentially the most dangerous place on earth, the flash-point for nuclear war. Every person, country, and organisation that worries about the prospect of nuclear war has the right to intervene and do everything in its power to prevent it.  Keep reading  >>>>

Kashmir Jihad - Analysis & Options

Kashmir is an incomplete agenda of partition of India. Since 1947, India and Pakistan have fought three wars on this issue. According to UN resolutions, Kashmiris have to decide their accession to Pakistan or India through impartial plebiscite, which could not take place due to Indian reluctance. Recently, India revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted special autonomous status to Kashmir, it was done to unilaterally integrate occupied Kashmir. This is a violation of the UN resolutions and the Simla bilateral agreement, which demands to maintain status quo until the final settlement. The US and world powers are emphasizing that Kashmir should be resolved bilaterally, though India has refused to hold talks with Pakistan. In the present scenario, while India has turned Kashmir into the largest prison of 9 million people, denying basic human rights and oppressing the Kashmiris' who want freedom from India, Pakistan cannot watch as a silent spec…
